Fall Softball

In an effort to expand our year-round softball development, Kirkland National Little League is registering its own Fall Softball teams this year. Fall Softball consists of multiple leagues within District 9 such as Kirkland American, Issaquah, Sammamish, Mercer Island and Bellevue. Look for the Register Now button in the upper right hand corner!

This is a developmental program for girls from 8-10 on December 31, 2017 (Coast and AAA). This is a great program for girls who played at Coast for the first time this past Spring, or AAA players who plan to move up to Coast next season and want to gain experience and confidence to play at this next division level in Little League.

If your daugher was 11 on December 31 and you are new to softball, please contact our VP of Softball to discuss whether this program is right for your daughter. If your daughter played at Majors this past season, the level of play is probably not challenging enough for them. The goal is to generate enough interest in Fall Softball throughout D9 to host Majors level play in the future.

Games will be on Sunday afternoons starting the first Sunday after Labor Day in September through the end of October, weather permitting. Some of the participating leagues have turf fields and generally we front load games on natural fields and back load games on turf to maximize the number of games teams will play.

Coast Plus Rules- Generally speaking, Fall Softball will use the District 9 Coast rules for games. That means 100% player pitch, pitcher's plate at 35', 11" high compression (hard) softball, no dropped third strike, and runners may leave base after the pitch reaches the batter. Last year we adopted a 3-run limit per inning to help ensure that games went 6 innings within a 2-hour time frame and hope to do so again.

Practices will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 132nd Square Field 1. To help work around other sports schedules, we have "group" practices. So rather than Team A practice only on Wednesdays and Team B practice only on Thursdays, players from either team can come to practices on Wednesday, Thursday, or both. While this is not a traditional team practice model, we have found this model to work well for folks who want to continue their softball training while also participating in other Fall sports.

Teams will be formed at the end of August and players will be notified by KNLL and their manager once teams are formed. All players will receive a team Tee-shirt with a number on the back for games.

Manager and coach volunteers will be needed! If you are interested in managing or coaching a team, please go through the registration process and register. If you were an approved volunteer during the Spring 2018 season, you will not need an additional background check for Fall Softball.

Umpires will also be needed! If you were an umpire during the regular season and would like to continue to work on your skills, we need your assistance for Fall Softball! If you always wanted to be an umpire but were nervous about starting during the Spring Season, Fall Softball is a great entry into umpiring. Go to through registration and sign-up as an umpire today!
