What level should my daughter play?

SOFTBALL Divisions for 2018

KNLL has 6 Softball Divisions for girls ages 4 to 14.

Not sure at which level to register your daughter? We've created a Player Placement Guide to help you with this process!

If you feel that your daughter should play in a different division as suggested in our Player Placement Guide or in the chart below, contact our Softball Player Agent, Barbara Trulson, at playeragent.softball@kirklandnational.com to discuss your daughter's skill set and situation.

Tee Ball

LL Age 4, 5, 6

2011 2012 2013

Guided by Little League's Tee Ball Program, this program is for beginner players and most players are ready to move up to Division A after one season of Tee Ball. We use our best efforts to organize teams by school but pending registration distribution, sometimes schools are split among two teams. Target team size is 7-8 players to provide more personal attention during practices and more reps during games. Starting after the LWSD Spring Break, there will be two one-hour "sessions" each week- one weeknight and one weekend. Players learn to hit 10" safety softballs off of a batting tee. There is no "coach pitch" in Tee Ball. During games, all players will bat each inning and play in the field. KNLL does not use catchers in Tee Ball. Go here to read more about what to expect as a parent. Little League manager and coaches are parent volunteers. If you are interested in coaching your daughter's team, please contact director.tball@kirklandnational.com to find out how to sign-up!

A

LL Age 6*, 7

2010 2011

"A" Division is exclusively a coach pitch league for players with at least one year of playing experience. We use our best efforts to organize teams by school but pending registration distribution, sometimes schools are split among two teams. Target team size is 8-10 players to provide more personal attention during practices and more reps during games. Typically, teams have 2 practices/games during a week. Practices may start late February, early March with games starting after the LWSD Spring Break. During games, all players bat each inning and a maximum of 9 players are allowed in the field, including catcher. A 10" safety softball is used.

AAA

LL Age 8 & 9

2008 2009

"AAA" Division is the first level at which players pitch. Using 11" safety softballs, pitchers pitch from a distance of 35' with no walks- after the 4th ball to a batter, the batter's coach comes in to finish pitching the at-bat. This level develops pitchers and catchers while teaching batters to evaluate pitches. We use our best efforts to organize teams by school but pending registration distribution, sometimes schools are split among two teams. Target team size is 10-12 players to provide more personal attention during practices and more reps during games. Managers need to enlist volunteer umpires from their team parents to umpire games. Contact uic.softball@kirklandnational.com if you are interested in becoming a volunteer softball umpire.

Coast

LL Age 10 & 11

2006 2007

Coast Division is full "kid pitch" softball where 11" hard softballs are pitched from 35'. Players must attend at least one Player Evaluation and are drafted onto teams for parity. Pending registration numbers, KNLL may combine with KALL to create one or more teams. Teams travel to other cities within our District to play other teams (i.e. Redmond, Bellevue, etc.). This is the first level at which players are eligible for All-Star selection. Managers need to enlist volunteer umpires from their team parents to umpire games. Contact uic.softball@kirklandnational.com if you are interested in becoming a volunteer softball umpire.

Majors
