05/26 COVID-19 UPDATE:
All KNLL activities have been temporarily suspended, including all practices and clinics.
We understand these have been difficult times and decisions for our KNLL families. The safety of our players and our community is of highest importance to the KNLL Board of Directors. We have been monitoring this situation closely and we are following the guidance from higher authorities to the best of our ability.
Current Status Updates:
Kirkland National Little League (KNLL) is thankful to the Kirkland City Council members for voting to pass Resolution Amendment 5424, allowing the possibility of field reservations by organized youth sports programs during Phase 3 of Governor Inslee's "Stay Safe" plan. There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure that our organization can meet the legal, insurance, and safety obligations set forth in the resolution. But by passing this resolution, they have provided our community volunteers the opportunity to continue to solve these issues in an effort to get our City’s youth out on the field to play in a safely monitored and organized program.
From the beginning of this pandemic, KNLL has placed player and volunteer health, safety, well-being, and interests at the forefront of all discussions and decisions, and we continue to strive for balance in those areas today. Our leaders are working with Little League International, other local little league associations and health professionals to implement further safety precautions necessary to play and will implement the Governor's office recommendations and requirements. This may include use of hand sanitizer in dugouts, prohibition of food within dugouts, no handshakes, personalized equipment for umpires and possible restrictions on parent/fan participation to meet max party numbers and social distancing and/or mask requirements.
As volunteers who live within the community of Kirkland, we take these ideals seriously and honor them so that we can lead kids within our program by example. And we hope you will join us in these efforts.
More to come but for now we wanted to communicate our commitment to you, your family and our extended community.
